The practice is an established Canterbury law firm with a strong presence in East Kent specialising in Property and Private Client work. We have an exciting opportunity within our expanding Private Client Department

Within this role there are good prospects for long term progression for the right candidate. You will be responsible for assisting the Partner and fellow fee earners as well as managing your own case-load of Private Client work. Duties with appropriate supervision will include: Providing specialist advice on Wills, Probate, Estate Administration, Codicils, Powers of Attorney, Care for the Elderly, Trusts and Inheritance tax planning.

The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive of 2-4 years PQE who must have experience in some or all of the areas of work outlined above especially elderly client work. Newly qualified applicants with good quality training in these areas will also be considered for the position.

A STEP qualification or membership of Solicitors for the Elderly will be an advantage or a willingness to obtain these qualifications.

The position is open to either full time or part time applicants.

Experienced Legal Secretary

We are looking to recruit an experienced legal secretary with a start date of January 2017.
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 18 months experience as a legal secretary including previous experience in family work.  The role would also include providing assistance to other departments in the firm and some reception cover.

Duties will include drafting standard forms and letters, dealing with documents and correspondence as directed by fee-earners, setting up new files accurately and attending to clients both on the telephone and in person. This is a fantastic opportunity for a legal secretary to progress their career.

Required Skills & Experience:

Applicants should have experience working in a family/ matrimonial department

Applicants should have experience working in a   private client department
Competence with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and

Outlook, together with experience of digital dictation (BigHand)

Experience of working in Partner for Wondows and/or ISOKON an advantage
Ability to multi-task and prioritise a significant workload, and keep calm under pressure

Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player who is smart, confident and presentable

The position is a full time position Monday- Friday 09:00-5.15pm

Salary £17,000 -£19000 ote

Contributory pension

20 days Holidays (increase with time in post)
